Struggle to settle

Going back on visitors, if they wish to stay in the US, they have to file for a case, or they have to apply to the DV lotteries. A DV lottery is a residence card lottery that was started by Bush Senior. If a person wins a DV lottery they can easily get their residence card, along with their family, no questions asked. However if you want to test your ability and try it out yourself, things will get a bit more complicated.

First of all, you will require a lawyer that is well paid, and has connections to keep your job permit in check. Next, you have to explain your case to him. If it is a valid case, and there are sure chances of winning, the lawyer will let you know. If not, then, the lawyer and you will create a totally original background story, and from there on, you may fight the case.

If your first case for the green card is rejected, you will get an appeal. But to get this appeal you need to pay $10,000, and bring it to the higher court system. If you case loses for the second time, then you will receive a deportation notice. Either the court will pay for your ticket, or you can pay for your own.

Also many people think that the DV lottery is very easy to get. That is not true! There are approximately 20 million illegal immigrants in the United States today, and out of those 20 million people only 50 thousand get the DV lottery.
